Abandoned Monastery Antoinette

The Monastery Antoinette, an abandoned building, is located in a small town in Belgium. This was built in 20th century and it used to be for nuns. After finishing its role as a monastery, it was used as a care home, and then in 2008, the building got abandoned.

アントワネット修道院はベルギーの小さな町にある廃墟です。20世紀に建てられたこの修道院、もともとは修道女のための修道院でした。修道院としての役目を終えた建物は、1950年頃には高齢者のためのケアホーム、日本で言う老人ホームとして使用されました。現在廃墟となっています。

Reggie and I jumped over the super high (approximately 15 meter) iron gate, and approached to the building hidden in the forest. Oh great…how beautiful and formidable Belgium abandoned places are. I could not even imagine these kinds of places are still left in the town!

レジー共に、鉄のゲートを驚異的なジャンプ力で飛び越えて、木々に隠された建物に近づきました。町中にこんな場所が残されているなんて驚き！ベルギー廃墟おそるべし！

Across the Crossed Crisscross
The most famous place inside this building is this, the crisscross in the inner court. I visited here at the beginning of autumn, red leaves made me feel like a kind of sorrow. I imagined that old persons might have had a tea time and chattering with this crisscross. With them, I felt that I could stay here for any hours and have a tea time 🙂

中庭にある雑草に埋もれた十字架が、この廃墟でもっとも有名な場所です。秋口に訪れたので、葉も紅葉してさらに哀愁ただよう感じになっていました。老人たちはこの十字架を見ながら、中庭で談笑でもしていたんでしょうか。この中庭にいると何時間でもいれそうな雰囲気でした。ここでアフタヌーンティー、つまり午後のお茶でも楽しみたいくらいです。

A Small Church
Beside this monastery, a small church was built. Inside it, nothing was left but a rosary on a chair in front of an altar. Whose rosary is this?

元々修道院だったこともあり、小さな教会が併設されていました。ほとんど片づけられていて残っている聖遺物はありませんでしたが、祭壇にポツンと残された椅子の上にロザリオが残されていました。

The construction of Monastery and many rooms
Its structure was a little bit complicated, the two buildings were connected. I wonder why many monasteries have these kinds of structures… It seems many rooms were for nuns, and then used for old persons. Each door had Grandpa’s or Grandma’s name plate with a cute ornament. I want to be admitted to this care house when I get old!!

建物は少し複雑な作りです。三階建の二棟の大きな建物はつながったような感じ。修道院ってなんでこうちょっと複雑な作りなんでしょうか…。たくさんの部屋がありましたが、各ドアにはかわいい装飾と共に,おじいちゃんやおばあちゃんのネームプレートがつけてありました。修道女が使ってたと思われる部屋を、その後老人たちが使用したようです。アタシが歳をとったら、このケアハウスに入院したいです！
