Bombay Beach in Salton Sea

History Bombay Beach city was built on the eastern shore in the 1950s. It is located on the Salton Sea 4 miles west-southwest from Frink and is the lowest community in America. The population was 295 at the 2010 census, decreased from 366 in 2000. The evidence of geothermal activity is also visible here.

Now town’s wreckage only remains. Evidence that there was a town, Lot of unused telegraph poles still stand diagonally on the beach. It’s a view reminiscent of the end of the world…

Iron parts of campers were totally destroyed from rust, Only a wooden skeletons were left. キャンピングカーの鉄の部分は塩によって錆びて崩れ、木の部分のみが残されており、本来の姿は失っていました。

Along the shore of the lake, a soft blow of breeze, made the camper and house skeletons sway, and the creaking sound of the wood, create a special atmosphere.
静寂の中、たまに吹く潮風が、木材を揺らし軋む音が、この場所に特別な雰囲気をプラスしていました。

There are piles of mummy fish on the lakeside! This phenomenon is caused by the rapid rise of the concentration of salt in the lake water, and it means this place is uninhabitable. And It gives off a strong, bad smell! It smells like Japanese dried fish ‘Kusaya’!

湖畔にはミイラ魚の山がありました! 湖の塩分濃度の上昇によって死んだ魚たち。それはここに人が住めないことを意味しています。しかし悪臭がひどい！それはまさし‘くさや’みたいな強烈な臭いでした！

A big, and heavy machinery that rotted away was left on the beach a little far from the dead fishes place. Its appearance looked like a huge creature coverd with salt. The huge salty machinery crumbled to the touch. It was just a rusty thing, of course.

少し離れた場所に、砂浜に大きな重機が残されていた。まるで巨大な、塩にまみれたクリーチャーの様な佇まいだった。重機は触るとボロボロと崩れ落ちてしまった。
