Calico Ghost Town

1881年に設立されたキャリコ・ゴーストタウンは、カリフォルニア州バーストーにある歴史的な銀鉱山の町です。当時の建物の多くは残っていませんが、かつて栄えたシルバーラッシュ時代の建物が復元されています。ここを訪れれば、西部劇の雰囲気を感じることができます。ゴーストタウンという名の観光地なので廃墟ではありません。

History: Calico is an old West mining town that has been around since 1881 during the largest silver strike in California. With its 500 mines, Calico produced over $20 million in silver ore over a 12-year span. When silver lost its value in the mid-1890’s, Calico lost its population. The miner’s packed up, loaded their mules and moved away, abandoning the town that once gave them a good living. It became a “ghost town.” (Via: calicotown.com)

キャリコは、カリフォルニアで1881年ごろから活発になった旧西鉱山の町です。この場所の付近にある、500カ所の鉱山で12年間の間に2000万ドル分の銀鉱石を発掘しました。1890年ごろから銀はかつての価値を失っていき、それに続いてキャリコから鉱山労働者は街を去っていきました。

I hear that Ghost town, I had imagined the landscape Deserted site, but Actually, it is properly a tourist destination. Most of the restored and newly built buildings are made of wood with a simple, rustic architecture and a cheaper appearance. Dressed up in western era mobs are make me feel the atmosphere from Gold Rush era.

ゴーストタウンと聞いていたので、寂れた風景を想像していたんですが、実際に行ってみるとマジ観光地だったというオチでしたｗ。復元されたとされる街の建物は、素朴な木造の外観で作られており、西部開拓時代を思わせる、ガンマンや炭鉱夫などのエキストラが街を闊歩しておりました。

My site subscribers would expect the abandoned places, So, If you visit calico It is a little wide of the mark to you. But Personally, I think it looks rather nice and wish there were more places that offered unique and fun.

Tomboy Urbexサイトの訪問者の多くは廃墟が好きな人が多いと思いますので、ちょっとこのゴーストタウンは、廃墟としては微妙かなと思われるかもしれませんが、雰囲気があるし、個人的には観光地廃墟としては面白い場所だと思います！
