When I arrived at Asama motor lodge, I found it cover by snow! I was planning to go there If was snowy so I felt 🙂 It was cold! But the sky was blue, and image of the hotel standing in the snow was peaceful and beautiful! Visited with Japanese urban explorer Matorokka (廃箱) 🙂
雪が降ったら行こうと思っていた、浅間モーターロッジ。行ってみたら雪がつもっていました！今回は廃箱のMatorokkaちゃんとサクッと探検してきました。寒かったけれど、青い空の下、雪の上のモーターロッジは普段よりもかっこよかった！
Asama motor lodge is bizzare circle motel, one of the abandoned places in Nagano. It was opened around 1946, rumor said that was designed famous architect. Who is famous architect??
浅間モーターロッジは美しい円形のホテルで、長野を代表する廃墟の一つです。1946年ごろにオープンし有名な建築家がデザインしたと言われています。
In the circle building there were recreation room, restaurant and big kitchen, but all the windows were broken and all the walls were vandalized. But the atmosphere was good 🙂 In the structure connected with the circle building, there were a series of similar guest rooms.
円形の建物の中には、キッチンやレストラン、レクリエーションルームなどがありました。窓ガラスは全部割られていて、落書きも多かったですが、それが逆に廃墟としてかっこよさかもし出していた！ 円形の建物から伸びている部分はゲストルーム。同じような部屋がいくつか並んでいました。
On the front the abandoned building was famous Kamameshi restaurant Oginoya, far have access to the motor lodge you should go tough to Oginoya. but Oginoya went out bussines…so I was able to go directly to the hotel.
この廃墟の前には、おぎの屋という有名な釜めし屋があり、そこの許可がないと入れないという噂がありましたが…行ってみたら、釜めし屋自体がなくなっていた…。なので普通に入ることができました。

This architect seems to be Ichiro Ebihara, who lived from 1905 to 1990. He had a large role in rebuilding Tokyo. His son was also an architect, but died before his father.
この建築家は海老原一郎のようです。東京の再構築に大きな役割を持っていました。海老原一郎の息子は、建築家でもあったが、息子は父親よりも早く死亡しました。

I found it! This building was in my old textbook. It seems originally, the flat portion of the roof (not circle part) was empty, but when the design was almost complete, the client asked the architect to make the room useful and appealing. So the architect designed some permanent tent-like structures on the roof. You can still see the poles which held the tents in some other pictures (but not on this website). Here, the second picture shows the poles a little bit.

This building one of the really beautiful abandoned building in Japan, I think that is really unfortunate…
