The abandoned Sabinosa’s Sanatorium is located on a small peninsula, 5 km from Tarragona station, It was built in 1929. The sanatorium like a small town. It has streets and avenues, little squares, fountains and pavilions. However, this Sanatorium has a dark past. For decades this was where the generation of children left orphaned by the Franco regime were imprisoned and mistreated. After the fall of the Spanish Dictatorship, the sanatorium was abandoned in 1976.
サビノサ・サナトリウムはタラゴナ駅から5㎞ほどにある小さな半島にある結核療養所の廃墟です。療養所は1929年に建てられました。この療養所は暗い過去があり、フランコ政権時代に親を奪われた子供たちが保護監禁、そして虐待された場所です。独裁政権の崩壊後、孤児達は開放され、1976年に閉鎖されました。
The sun was shining brightly. 40 minutes by train from Barcelona, we arrived in the beautiful city of Tarragona by the sea. We began walking towards the peninsula where the sanatorium lies. We passed through crowds enjoying the beach… and 40 minutes later, we arrived at the sanatorium!!
日差しの強い日、バルセロナから電車で40分、海辺の美しい街タラゴナに到着！すぐさまサビノサ・サナトリウムを目指し歩きだした！高級住宅街を歩いた…老若男女達が青春を謳歌しているビーチに目もくれず歩いた…あれ…結構遠いぞ…40分ほど歩いてサナトリウム付近に到着!!!
The sanatorium building is guarded by a fence, we are able to enter the fence through a hole someone had made, so we were quite easy to go in and out!
療養所の建物はフェンスでガードされていた。でも誰かがフェンスに穴を開けてくれていたので、そこから簡単に入ることができました！
There were 9 abandoned buildings, sanatorium, administration building, Patient area and Chapel etc.. It’s difficult to believe that a dark past flow under this Blue sky and bright sunshine! What a strange feeling…
大きな敷地には全部で9棟の建物があります、サナトリウム、管理棟、患者棟、小さな礼拝堂などなど。眩しい日差しと青い空、ここで過去に暗い歴史があったとは思えない印象でした。
Why did I go to Tarragona? Originally…I planned to see the Mazinger Z statue in the county side near Tarragona . It is far from the city center ! So I gave up on going to the Mazinger Z.
というか…私がタラゴナに行った本来の目的は、タラゴナの田舎にあるといわれるマジンガーZの像を見るためだったんですが、市街地からあまりにも離れている場所にあったため断念しました。
