Nichitsu Company Apartments

Nichitsu Mine located between Saitama Pref Gunma Pref. It is known by the name Nichitsu mine amongst Japanese urbexers, is one of the famous abandoned site in Japan. There is many abandoned mine relationship building still now. Then the company is still working there, So the main building area of activity, but the other half is completely abandoned!

埼玉と群馬の県境に位置する秩父鉱山、通称ニッチツ鉱山は日本の廃墟探検家の間でも非常に人気の場所です。今でも多くの鉱山関係の廃墟を見ることができます。そしてまた、現役鉱山として稼働している歴史深い鉱山でもあります。

Nitchitsu Co, Ltd. established in 1950. Nitchitsu Mine mined Crystalline limestone. In the past, coal miners and their families lived here, and At its height over 2.000 residents lived there. After that, Those people were leaving for the town by the decaying of the factory. This site has coal mine, company apartments, a factories a school and hospital of when past prosperity time. But any buildings are the remains as ruins even now.

株式会社ニッチツは、昭和２５年８月１日に設立されました。秩父事業所には、かつて隆盛を極めた頃の社宅、医院、アパートメントが今でも残され放置されいます。

On a lovely, sunny spring morning. I visited Nitchitsu mine with Chris, Alessandro, Riccardo, Fujita! It was in order to Hanami party, but Sakura is not in bloom… and This year, a lot of snow piled up this area, that’s been snow lay 2 meters deep! So, the oldest, most company apartments in this area were collapsed by snow! But there are still lots to see, despite this! Let’s see, in detail what is left till today.

本来は花見ができるかなと思い行ったんですが、桜がまだ咲いてない！今年はこの秩父も積雪量が半端なかったらしく、最も古い社宅といくつかの建物は倒壊していました。でも！ここにはまだまだ見れるたくさんの廃墟は残っています。

Company apartment was scattered in some places. Many of them are wooden made and unsafe, looks like it’s about to collapse at any moment. The inside was very tattered with a lot of trash left behind.

社宅の多くは色々な場所に点在しています。それからはすべて木製でできているので、非常に壊れやすそう! 社宅の中には、鉱山夫たちが残していったものがたくさんありました。

Most of the floors looked same, but we found out some personal object of former residents left in the rooms. The most impressive part of those rooms are the OTAKU room (geek room)! Interesting!!! Dreamcast!!

一番興味深かったのは、オタクグッツがたくさん残された部屋! ガンダムのプラモデル、親近感が湧くアイテムがたくさんありましたが、写真はあまり撮りませんでした。ドリームキャストの湯川専務が懐かしい!!

This lovely small post office was opened in the Taisho Era or Meiji era! 1986, transition to the branch post office. Even now it is open on weekdays 🙂 I sent a postcard from here, because I want the Nitchitsu postmark! For my memories!
