Petrova Gora Monument

This monument is made of reinforced concrete, and has stainless steel walls. It’s eccentric enough to be named strong “Petrova Gora”. This is…a building rather than a monument. Its figure looks like a space station!!! The curvilinear structure is really fantastic. It is called ” Spomenik ustanku naroda Banije i Korduna” by Croatian people.

エキセントリックでスーパークールなクロアチアの廃墟、ペトロワ・ゴーラの記念碑！鉄筋コンクリート製で、ステンレスの壁を持つ、まさに”ペトロワ・ゴーラ”という強い響きにも負けない屈強なデザインの廃墟です。ピカピカなお姿が神々しいです。英語名でPetrova Gora Monument、クロアチアではSpomenik ustanku naroda Banije i Kordunaと呼ばれています。発音できない….。

History:
ペトロワゴーラのモニュメントは、クロアチア、ペトロヴァックにある1981年に建てられた第二次世界大戦の記念碑です。 1942年に300人ほどの農具で武装したセルビア人が、ウスタシャ民兵との激しい戦闘の末死んだ場所。モニュメントは、勇敢に戦ったセルビア人のシンボルとなっている。モニュメントはその後、博物館として機能していたが、1991年に閉鎖。1995年以降から地元民による外壁の盗難が相次いでいる。

Petrova Gora Monument is a World War II monument built on Petrovac, the highest peak of Petrova Gora mountain, Built in 1981. The monument is a symbol of suffering and heroic struggle foremost of the Serbian population in this region, when about 300 desperate Serb peasants armed only with pitchforks, died attacking members of the Ustaše militia at the top of the mountain, during breakthrough of the enemy ring in 1942. After 1991, monuments and memorial complexes were neglected, and the museum was devastated after 1995, and continues to be damaged.(via:wiki)

Apocalyptic Sounds
ステンレスの外壁が山頂の強い風にあおられ、大きな音が鳴り響くさまは、世界終末を思わせる雰囲気。外壁は今にもはずれて飛んできそうな勢い。あぶない・・・。屋上に設置してあるアンテナは現役。廃墟となった後、ヨーロッパで有名な携帯会社T-Mobileが使用しているんだとか。

The stainless steel wall was hit by a gust of wind, and making huge weird noises. With these eerie sounds, the atmosphere let me imagined the end of the world. Also the strong wind looked as if was about to break the wall, I was beside myself with fear during this exploration. Nowadays, this monument is used as a broadcast station by T-Mobile. The antennas on the roof were for it!
