Richmond Power Station is a massive abandoned facility located on the riverbank of Delaware River in Philadelphia. This huge abandoned facility was placed into service in 1925 as coal-fired power station. The neoclassical revival design seems like a gorgeous palace even though it’s a power generating station. The station is currently being used as a warehouse for shipping company, and as a set for Hollywood films such as Transformers series.
宮殿のような発電所はフィラデルフィアのアイコン的存在。その名は、リッチモンド発電所。デラウェア川沿いに存在する新古典派のリバイバルデザイン建築の廃墟。リバイバルってつけると大概かっこいいよくなりますよね。1925年に建設された石炭火力発電所として運用開始。現在は運送会社の倉庫として使用されている。トランスフォーマーシリーズなどの数多くのハリウッド映画のロケ地としても活躍している場所。
その潜入難易度はトップクラス。
多くのUrbex愛好家がチャレンジ、成功し、挫折し涙をのんでいる。山でいうとアコンカグアぐらいだ。登山家ではないからわからないけど、それくらいの難易度はあったと思う。世界には、まだいくつも大きな廃墟があんだと思い知らされた。
