Shimizusawa Thermal Power Plant

The Hokutan Shimizusawa Thermal Power Plant is located in Yubari, Hokkaido, was built in 1941, one of the largest coal mine in Japan. Currently, it is in progress demolition working.

北炭清水沢火力発電所は、北海道夕張市の夕張炭鉱にある廃墟。1941年にはじまり、国内最大の炭鉱の一つでした。以前はその大きさを見ることができましたが、現在、解体工事進行中となっています。

When we visited this plant, When I visited this plant, The construction staff were working around! Though, there is no problem, If you take the permission in the office, It will be accessible as any time OK 🙂

‘Even if you go to the plant, nothing interesting there.’ Staff said to me. But, I believe in all likelihood, there is something interesting, So I headed to there.

事務所で許可をもらい外観だけ見せてもらうことに。「見ても面白いもんはなーんもないよ？」とスタッフさんに言われるも、行ってみることに。

What was there?… busy construction vehicle, piles of rubble… and Only one power plant building was left. Was not Haikyo, the place was a construction site completely :O I regretted have done explore the demolition working start before. Now, Plant is open to the public during the art project summer.

そこに残されていたのは、メインの発電所の建物の一棟だけ。ほとんどが瓦礫の山になっていました。ああ、こうなる前に探索したかった…。現在は、夏に行われるアートプロジェクトの日だけ一般公開されているようです。
