Have you ever heard of the sleeping “Snoopy” bomber jet? Abandoned out in Mojave Desert, B-58 lies semi-dismantled but has become something of a landmark. It was nicknamed “Snoopy” due to its oddly extended nose to accommodate the new radar system at the time. Even the desert surrounding the still active Edwards AFB has some abandoned fighter jets lying around, including but not limited to: B-52, B-58 Hustler, F-101 Voodoo, F-8 Carcass, and B-47.

Snoopy! Hey Snoopy!
Walking in the desert at night for good 20 minutes, the Hustler with a slender body and sharp facial feature appears. You could see the concrete slabs hiding in the sand; I think these were parts of a runway. Taking a good look while lighting its body with a flashlight and… there it is! Snoopy! I was kind of surprised to see it hasn’t faded much.

Side Memo
It’s a 20 minute walk from the main road. You can kind of see the remnants of a road but I would recommend bringing a map with you. There are desert sparrows living inside the Hustler so try to be mindful of them.
