Teufelsberg NSA station

Teufelsberg NSA station is an abandoned radar base built by NSA for information gathering in 1963. This place had been operated until the fall of the Berlin Wall, then in 1992, was deserted. In 1990’s, investors managed this place for building apartments; however, they disclaim the plan at the beginning of 2000’s. Currently the whole base is provided artists as a museum of street arts.

トイフェルスベルク NSA レーダー基地（Teufelsberg NSA station）は、1963年、米国国家安全保障局（NSA）が情報収集のために建てたレーダー基地の廃墟です。ベルリンの壁の崩壊まで操業を続け、1992年に放棄されました。 1990年代に投資家グループがマンション建設のため管理していましたが、2000年代初頭にその計画を放棄。現在は、基地全体をアーティストに提供し、ストリートアート美術館として注目されています。

Devil’s Mountain!!!
Teufelsberg, the base located, is also called “the Devil’s Mountain”. After WW2, this mountain was artificially created with debris of the war.

レーダー基地がある、トイフェルスベルク(Teufelsberg)は別名”悪魔の山(Devil’s Mountain)”と呼ばれ、第二次世界大戦後、戦争によって発生した瓦礫やゴミなどから作られた人口の丘です。

Joining the Tour!
In this abandoned base, an official tour is held in every day. They stomp tourists’ arms seals at the entrance. This seal is participation certificate.

基地は、ガイドツアーがほぼ毎日行われ、公式で見学できる廃墟となっています。入口で、腕に基地のハンコが押されます。これがツアー参加証がわり。

White Rice-Dumpling Radar
Took the long stair, went up the roof top, beautiful 2 white round radars showed their figures to us. A strong wind blew and rotten clothes flapped with making unique sounds like a draft. I felt like the radars were still alive and catching something…

少し長い階段を上り、屋上に出ると、麗しの白いまんまるレーダーが2つ。風が強いので、朽ちた布がバタバタとはためき、隙間風のような独特な音が屋上に響きます。まるでレーダーがまだ稼働しているような感覚…。

Museum of Street Arts
Almost all of buildings in this base are used for art spaces. Everybody who obtains permission can draw street arts.

敷地内の多くの建物は、アートスペースとして使用されています。許可を得れば誰でもストリートアートを描くことができます。

Devil’s Whisper
An iron gate kept us from entering. We tried to find ways to go inside in fun, my slim friend could get inside through the grid…She rapidly went to deeper side like a patrol. I waited her for a while…Well, people were gathering around the gate…what’s goin’ on…!? At that time, I noticed an official tour would be held. Come back my friend, pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!! Finally she could get out of the gate and we could join the tour…

レーダー基地の正面には鉄のゲート。ゲートの格子から入れないかなあ…とふざけていたら、同行していた友人（細い）が…入れてしまう展開に…。”様子を見てくる!“と偵察部隊ごとくの早さで奥に消えていく友人。待つことしばし… なんだか門のまわりにだんだんと人が集まってくる…おかしい…。そして、私は公式ツアーがあるという事実を知る。友人に早く戻ってええ…と指示を出しどうにか無事脱出し、事なきを得ました…。
