車落下！ Did it fall out of the sky? Did it grow out of the ground? These uniquely painted vehicles, ranging from cars, school buses, trucks and vans, are buried nose down in the Nevada desert. This art installation is a product of two artists, Chard Sorg and Mark Rippie, using 40 plus scrap cars to create a unique metal jungle. It’s located just east of Goldfield, Nevada, and stand as a free attraction for those driving nearby.

Falls from the skies
It was literally a “Car Forest.” The vehicles were colorfully painted with designs varying from portraits of politicians to skulls and graffiti. You were free to ride and climb so I decided to get on the school bus. I’ve always wanted to ride one of them…though I didn’t expect it to be charred like this. There were no signs explaining the art or name of the work. Very profound…
まさに「車の森」。廃車には、政治家の似顔絵や骸骨などグラフィティが描かれ、非常にカラフルです。車に乗ったり、登ったり自由にできるのもうれしいところ。アメリカのスクールバスに一度乗ってみたかったんですよね。内部はまる焦げでしたけど・・・。作品名、説明などなく、ただただそこにあり続けるアート。深い。
So much art in the desert
There are a lot of private artworks like these scattered around in the desert throughout the U.S. I’ve also seen the enormous metal sculptures by Ricardo Berceda; that was also standing in the middle of a desert. It’s so fun spotting these desert artworks.
アメリカの砂漠には、結構こういう個人的なアート作品が存在します。以前、Ricardo Breceda Sculpturesという鉄製の彫像たちを見に行きました。それらも砂漠という何もない土地を生かしたオブジェクトの面白さがありましたっけ。砂漠アート面白い！
