DC-3 in Željava Air Base

Near the borders of Croatia and Bosnia, there is the abandoned Željava Air Base. I visited this place not for the base itself, but for a transport aircraft “DC-3”. I prefer to love abandoned aircrafts rather than eat Sushi.

ジェリャバ空軍基地は、クロアチアとボスニアの国境近くにある空軍基地の廃墟。で、この基地よりも、基地内に放棄してある輸送機、ダグラス DC-3（Douglas DC-3）見たさに行ってきました。三度の飯より廃飛行機が好きな私です。

History:
旧ユーゴスラビアの基地で、その規模はヨーロッパ最大だったと言われています。1991年に勃発した紛争によって、破壊されそれ以来廃墟となりました。また、この場所は基地になる以前は鉱山だったので、地下鉱山への道があるようですが、激しい老朽化などによりデンジャラス地帯になっているようです。ボスニアとクロアチアの国境検問所が近くにあるので国境警備隊が見回っています。

This base was said that it used to be the biggest one in the former Yugoslavia. This place was destroyed in the conflict broke out in 1991. Additionally, this place was a mine before being used as a base, so there is a road to the underground. BUT!!! It’s too dangerous to go because that place is full of superannuated!!!! Guards patrol this place because here is near a border.

恐る恐る草むらを歩きながら機体に近づくと、ご丁寧に梯子が。先人の計らいありがとうございます。さあ、中に入ってみましょう！

Pero-Pering Transport Aircrafts
草むらの中に、ボロボロの輸送機。雨に曝された姿は迫力の一言。少し前までは、3機の飛行機が置いてあったようですが、他2機は解体されたようで確認できたのはこの一機のみ。 輸送機内部には梯子がご丁寧にかけてあったので難なく潜入。放棄された飛行機の操縦席のかっこよさよ・・・。

An abandoned transport aircraft was in the bush. Its figure, like a living dead, was full of impact. I heard there were 3 aircrafts at this place but 2 of these had been scraped. It was not so hard to sneak into the body because a ladder gently leaded us. What a great Kakkoii abandoned cockpit…!!!

Watch Out!!! Landmines!!! 地雷に気をつけろ！
この場所で、一つ有名な話があります。クロアチアにはまだまだ地雷が埋まったままの場所が多く存在します。実はこのジェリャバ空軍基地もその一つです。数年前に廃墟探索者のカップルがこの場所に訪れました。男性の方が草の奥まで入り、地雷を踏んで亡くなるという痛ましい事故が起きています。

I heard a famous story of this place. In Croatia, still many landmines remains. Actually, this air base is one of those places. Few years ago, explores couple visited here. At that time, a man went into the depths of the bush, and he unfortunately stepped on a mine and died. PLEASE WATCH OUT!!!!

探索に関して
基地内には本当にびっくりするくらい簡単に入れてしまいますが、ボスニアとクロアチアの国境検問所が近くにあるので国境警備隊がエリア内を巡回しています。私自身も警備隊に出くわしましたが、こちらから挨拶をすると、気をつけてね！と注意されたくらいで済みました。即刻退去を命じられた探索家もいれば、国境事務局まで連れて行かれて事情聴取をされた人もいます。これはもう運によるものなので、探索の際は自己責任で！
