公式廃墟! The Rhyolite ghost town is located in between the Death Valley and Beatty. I expected the place to be obsolete, but it was full of tourists when I visited. I guess its location makes it an easy side trip for the travelers while touring around the area. This gold-mining town from the 1900s has been abandoned for so long it’s more like a ruins now, but the train depot was surprisingly in excellent shape.
ライオライトのゴーストタウンは、デスバレー国立公園とビーティという町の中間に存在した鉱山町の廃墟。鉱山夫たちが立ち去ってから長い時間が経っているため廃墟というより遺跡に近いです。寂れている感じなのかな？と想像していましたが、駅舎などは当時のまましっかりと残っているし！観光客が結構そこそこ多い！デスバレー観光の際に立ち寄れる公式で見れる廃墟として人気なようです。
Named after volcanic rock in the area
The remnants of Rhyolite’s glory days can be spotted through the skeletal remains of the bank, jail, school, and small housings. The town residents would have gone out to the Bullfrog mining every day.
エリア内には、町の駅、銀行、学校、小さな廃屋などが残されています。当時、ライオライトに住んでいた人々は、毎日Bullfrog miningウシガエル鉱山というユニークな名前の鉱山に働きに出ていたようです。ライオライトというちょっと変わった名前は、この付近で採掘されていた流紋岩から名付けたそうな。
