アンコール！This abandoned amusement park, known as an Encore Garden, sits in the middle of a mountain not far from Taichung city, encircled by nature’s abundance. It’s large enough to contain two Tokyo Domes (about 12 acres each), which is pretty massive. The park include a standard carousel, go karts, space shuttle rides, flower garden, and several other amusement facilities. Katolis World was also a famous abandoned amusement park in Taiwan, but it’s been taken down several years ago. It’s sad to see these beautiful parks go.
アンコール遊園地と呼ばれた廃遊園地。それは台中市内から遠くない自然豊かな山の中腹に存在します。東京ドーム二つ分の巨大な敷地を有する園内には、定番のメリーゴーランド、ゴーカート、スペースシャトル（かなり簡易的な）のアトラクションや、花や植物をテーマにした観光エリア、ショーを行う演劇場など多種多様な遊戯施設がそろっています。かつて台湾には、カトリワールド（Katolis World）と言われる有名な遊園地の廃墟がありましたが、数年前に完全に解体されています。Urbex愛好家にとっては残念なニュースだったのを憶えています。
A Little History
Encore Garden opened its doors to the public in 1981, drawing over a million visitors a year. Around 1993, the owner decided to expand its business and incurred a huge loss at the end. Attendance dropped drastically after the massive 921 earthquake that struck Taiwan in 1999. By 2008, the park was left with no choice but to close down, and later auctioned and bought by a construction company in Taichung.
1981年に開園し、年間100万人以上の来場者を維持する人気の遊園地でした。1993年頃には事業を拡大し多額の損失を増やすこととなってしまいます。1999年に台湾を襲った921大地震によって来場者数は急落。2008年に閉演に追い込まれ、その後、オークションで落札。現在は台中市の建設会社の管理下にあります。
Fancy Exotic Attractions
Once you pass the main gate decorated with flowers and butterflies, you are greeted by a huge Chinese Opera Face Mask monument and a Phoenix ship. The heavily rusted attractions are all designed in a unique way. The place was covered in green, contributing to the exotic atmosphere.
蝶や花のモニュメントに飾られた正面ゲートを抜けると、巨大な京劇面のモニュメント、昇天必須なフェニックスの船など、台湾オリジナルを感じさせるユニークなアトラクションの数々。植物が至る所に浸食し、遊園地全体にエキゾチックな雰囲気が漂っていました。

There was a staff on-site but thanks to my awesome friend doing all the diplomatic negotiations, we were able to enter the park ! I really can’t thank my friend enough. We also had a guard dog accompany us… or more like monitor us… They seemed to be in the middle of taking down the park with demolition machines parked inside. Not sure what they’ll be using or building next, but there might be a shouting for some encore in the future.
場所を訪れたとき、そこにはスタッフが常駐していました。素晴らしい友人の交渉の結果、特別に入園する許可が。本当に多謝。さらに、頼もしい犬のお供が同行してくれました。同行というよりも実際は私たちの監視役でしたけど・・・。公園には重機が入り、遊園地は徐々に解体されているように見えました。何に使われるのかはわかりませんが近い将来、。まさにアンコールが起こるのかもしれない??
