最強心霊学校。Have you ever heard of the scariest abandoned school in the west? The Goldfield High is known as one of the most haunted high schools in America. The ghost hunting TV crews once visited this place and started ranting that they’ve heard the ghost during the show.
西アメリカ最恐の学校の廃墟をご存じですか？それは、THE MOST HAUNTED HIGH SCHOOL IN AMERICA!!!としても有名な、ゴールドフィールドハイスクールです。アメリカのゴーストＴＶショー（心霊番組）のクルーが取材中に、「幽霊の声めちゃする！」「幽霊おるで！」と幽霊の存在をお茶の間届けたことでも有名です。
A little history:
The high school was built in 1907 at the height of Goldfield’s mining boom and has stood proud ever since. Nothing much has changed after sending out the final graduates of 1952; decaying within but its brick walls still imposing on the outside. The school was abandoned in 1953 due to structural issues, but over the past several years, people have started funding trying to restore the high school to its former glory.
1907年に建設されたゴールドフィールド高校は、レンガ造りの建物です。 1952年に最後に卒業生を送り出し、学校は構造的な問題のために1953年に放棄されて以来、空になっています。その後、建物を保存するため民間の寄付がはじまり、徐々に学校は本来の姿を取り戻しつつあります。
毎年少しづつ修復結果を出しているようです。改装が楽しみです。
In the midst of renovation
I decided to go take a look at this one of the oldest surviving structures in Goldfield. As soon as I got to the front of the high school though, I was taken aback by how new it looked. The high school was apparently in the midst of renovation.
毎週土曜日に内部の見学会をやっていると聞き、行ってきましたが、学校の前に到着し、まず驚いたのが「え・・なんか新しくない？」。そう、ゴールドフィールドハイスクールは、歴史的建造物として残すために絶賛改装中だったのです。老朽化した学校はいつ崩れてもおかしくない状態だったといわれています。
The presence of ghosts
They are usually hosting a tour every Saturday, but due to the renovation and safety issues, I wasn’t able to go inside the building this time. They’re planning on opening the doors to the public once the renovation’s complete. Oh, and I don’t have any sixth sense but I was able to feel the presence of ghosts just from standing outside! They might be excited about this whole renovation too.
改装中のため安全性の面から見学会も残念ですが、現在は中止中。外から眺めただけでしたが、幽霊の存在をビシバシ感じました。霊感ないですけどね。数年がかりの改修工事後は、一般公開されるそうです。幽霊も「新築みたい！やったぜ！」と再び姿を現してくれることに期待大ですね！
