日本宇宙博物館！We ran into this place by accident while searching for other abandoned spots in Ibaraki. It must’ve been closed for quite a while with all the tall weeds and roots growing out of everywhere. According to its plaque, the official name of this place was “Fukuroda’s Taki Museum・Japan Space Army Navy Airforce Museum・Japan Modern Museum・Matumoto Fuuko Memorial・Tanaka Seiji Memorial…” PICK ONE!! Why in the world would you even try to fit five different museums and memorials into this not so large area!
茨城の廃墟医院を探索途中、途中に出くわしたこの場所（廃墟？）。正式名称は袋田の滝美術館・日本宇宙陸海空博物館・日本近代歴史博物館・松本楓湖安雅堂記念館・田中青示記念室….どれがメインなのかわかりません。敷地内には観音像もありちょっとした観光地のような雰囲気です。今は営業していないようで、雑草に囲まれ半分廃墟と化しています。Abandoned space museumと書くと素晴らしい廃墟のように見えますが…まあ、これはある意味すばらしい廃墟でした。T-33があるだけでその価値はぐん！と上がります。
とても小さなアミューズメントパークな感じ。枯葉葉は夏場にきたら緑に茂り美しそうです！
While I’ve got no clue which one’s the main part, it was indeed like a little tourist spot with the mid-sized Buddhist Statue of Mercy (Kannon) standing tall just as if it’s watching over those who decide to stop by for whatever reason…like us. The statues weirded me out at first, but you can’t just walk away without taking a closer look at T-33!!

How in the world would anyone expect to see T-33 in Ibaraki! As we try to make our way to the entrance, we noticed that there was more to this place than the amazing T-33. Hiding in the growing thick weeds were rockets, engines, and other abandoned gadgets. I’m sure there would be more interesting stuff covered in dirt and grass, if we took an actual time to look around. T-33’s rear was broken off but everything else was mostly intact. The strangest part about this place was probably the mannequin’s decapitated head with legs sticking out from its neck. Taking a good look at T-33 along with these innovative art works, this was worth a visit.
まさか、茨城でT-33を見れるとは…。茨城おそろしい子！雑草をかき分けて入口らしき方面に進むと、色々なオブジェクトが敷地内にあることに気付きました。ロケットやエンジンなどなど、草の中を探せばいろいろ掘り当てられそうな面白さがあります。T-33機体尾部は本体からちぎれて、雑草の中に転がっていましたが、雰囲気があります。極めつけは、マネキンの生首の下からマネキンの足が生えた斬新なアート作品群。一見の価値があります。

Met several shy doggies while walking around the area; they’ll bark at you but as soon as you get too close them, they’ll start running off. How cute.
敷地に内には、犬のおまわりさんがいます。吠えてくるだけで近寄ってくることはありませんでした。近づくと逃げちゃう、でも吠えちゃうシャイなワンちゃんたちです。
