Manicomio di R

A Happy New Year! First of Italian abandoned places is an asylum which is called “Manicomio di R”. It means “Asylum-R” in English, I think, however it’s not interesting so I’ll call it “Asylum of the Goats”!!! Well, I think you wonder why but believe me, the asylum is occupied by many goats…you’ll know about it later!

あけましておめでとうございます！新年一発目の廃墟は、通称’マニコミノ・ディ・アール’と呼ばれているイタリアにある精神病院の廃墟。日本語にするとしたら’精神病院R’といったところでだと思います。…がイニシャルで呼ぶのは味気ないので、’ヤギ精神病院’と呼ぶことにします。なぜヤギと呼ぶのかというと、ヤギが住んでたからです!しかも結構な数。それについてはおいおい語っていきましょう。

History
This asylum was built in 1871. It was first used as a hospital for the mentally ill and later it was used as a military academy. During the world wars the number of patients levels peak hospitalizations occurred fell below the thousand units. Care workers were treated with electroshock therapy and operations to the nervous system for mental patient. Many patient were lot of suffering within asylum. the asylum closed the 1981 when many of these asylums in Italia.

マニコミノ・ディ・アール精神病院は、精神障害者のために1871年に建てられ、後々、陸軍士官の学校として使用されていました。世界大戦中に患者の数はピークに達し、多いときでは1000人を超えました。この病院では、障碍者に対して神経系への電気ショック療法を処理し、患者を救うどころか多くの患者がその治療法に苦しんでいたそうです。1981年に精神病院は閉鎖され、84年間の長い歴史に幕を閉じました。

Hard Sneakin’ and Crawlin’
The Goat Asylum is the one which leads me to Italy, so I have no choice but getting inside. This abandoned building is really old and huge even it’s located in downtown. To get inside, it was a little bit difficult. I have to hide the details, but…Quick Jump! Quick Sliding! Sneakin’ and Crawling’ into a dark and narrow hole…well, I hope you could imagine what was going on there. It was an easy mission for me, because I’m a great Call Of Duty!!

この精神病院は街中にあるにもかかわらず、かなり古くて巨大な廃墟です。入るのもちょっと困難で、詳細は説明できませんが、素早く飛び越える→素早く隙間にスライディング→人ひとりが通れるくらいの暗い穴をほふく前進で進む…とまあこんな感じです。一部始終は動画でどうぞ。

A Huge Asylum
I’ve checked the building by aerial photographs, however I was very surprised at the huge size when I got inside. There are still many places I couldn’t see even I stayed for 5 hours. Many medical equipments are still left for each rooms. The courtyard covered by ivy gives me a fantastic feeling that I forget I’m inside the asylum…Beautiful!

建物を航空写真で見たときよりも、中に入ってその巨大さに驚きました。５時間ほど滞在してもまだまだ見れなかった場所がたくさんあるくらい巨大です。用途別にある数々の部屋には、多くの医療機器が未だに残されています。中庭のツタが建物を包み込みはじめているので、精神病院にいることを忘れてしまうくらい幻想的な雰囲気でした。

Going into Asylum Surgery
This place is I really yearned to see, the operating room with impressive green walls and windows covered by ivy. A tiled room, a lonely shadowless lamp, medical equipments…when I saw them, I was close to enter the asylum because of abandoned places madness!!! Heaven forbid!!!

ツタに覆われた窓とグリーンの壁が印象的な手術室はもっとも訪れたかった場所。タイル張りされた部屋に、ポツンと無影灯、ベット、医療機器が残られた様を見たアタシは、興奮のあまり発狂して、危うく自分が精神病院送りになりそうでしたよ。危ない危ない。

Beautiful Passages
This asylum have some beautiful hallways in each floor. It reminds me a church rather than an asylum because of the hallways which has a high and arch shaped ceiling. This space is certainly worth seeing.

この精神病院にはいくつかの美しい廊下があります。アーチ型の高い天井を持つ廊下は精神病院というよりも、教会を彷彿させます。一見の価値ありです。

[Rumor] A fact the Goats Security is popular in Italy.
Strong smell attacked me as soon as I arrived at ground floor. Oh no…WTH…The floor is filled with animal feces…I feel something is looking at me…who is there!!!??? Goats. Many goats are looking at me with chewing the cud. I couldn’t remember how long I did so, but I felt that they didn’t consider me as a bad explorer. They left back to the yard. Their life is full of freedom, walking around inside the asylum, eating kinds of grass in the yard. Well, by the way, goats, where do you guys come from…? I’ve heard in Italy sometimes goats are used for security. Do you know the truth? I approach to the goats to touch them, but they left from me in silence…Does it make any sense?

一階につくとすぐに強烈な異臭が鼻をつく！くさすぎる！床を見ると、ほとんどが動物の’うんこ’で埋め尽くされていた…。すると何か視線を感じた…その方向に目をやると、たくさんのヤギがクッチャクッチャと反芻しながらこちらをじーと見ていた。しばらくの対峙の後、ヤギたちは再び中庭に戻って行きました。ヤギたちは自由に精神病院の中を歩き回り、中庭の草を食べて日々ここで気ままに生活しているようです。というかヤギよ…君らはどこからこの廃墟に入ったんだい？
イタリアではセキュリティ対策にヤギを使うとかいうのを聞いたことがあるんですが、本当でしょうか？ヤギを触ろうと近づいたら、ヤギたちは無言で避けていってしまいました…セキュリティの意味なし！
