Shirakawa village has been hidden in the Chichibu mountain far from the center of Saitama city. It is said that people in this village had been making a living as charcoal makers. The village would never be back… Unfortunately, you will never see villagers laughing.
白岩廃村は埼玉市の中心部から遠く離れた秩父の山の中に隠れています。村人たちは炭焼きを家業にしていたようです。残念ながら、再び村人の笑い声がこの村に戻る事はないでしょう。
A lot of forgotten villages like this still remain in Japan, particularly, in rural areas without urban development. These places are likely to be a target to explore among urban explorers in Japan. There is a famous book called “Nihon Mukashi Banashi” meaning Japanese old stories, assembling old fairy tales throughout Japan, and quite a few villages appear in many stories.
このような忘れられた村は日本に多く存在し、都市開発の進んでいない農村部に残っています。これらの場所は、” 日本昔話 ” を彷彿させます。
Speaking of a forgotten village, European countries have a lot to mention, which are mostly bigger than Shiraiwa village , and atmospheres seem to be really different from those of Japan. I happened to hear about a village that looks like the village of “Resident Evil 4”. I’d really like to go visiting that place, if I had a chance.
You are a survivor from this village 😀
いつも素敵な写真ですね〜
Brava Ikumi 🙂
Grazie mille Ale ! Io sono pazza di Haikyo.

Thank you for your nice words. And sometimes when I come to Japan, I’m really looking forward to your objects. But first I’m looking forward to your pictures that you will show here. E mi meraviglio che puoi scrivere in italiano. Sono anche un mezzo italiano. Mia madre è da Venezia…
Cari saluti, Chris…
Great stuff. This village was the real-life inspiration for Hanuda, the Shibito-infested village in Siren (my best horror game ever)…
