F-101 Voodoo Fighter in the Desert

ヴードゥー! The lost F-101 Voodoo Fighter is located in Mojave Desert, California. Even the desert surrounding the still active Edwards AFB has some abandoned fighter jets lying around, including but not limited to: B-52, B-58 Hustler, F-101 Voodoo, F-8 Carcass, and B-47. Voodoo… a folk religion that worships spirits. This particular aircraft possess the same name: F-101 Voodoo. Could it be the spirits’ aircraft!? Or is it equipped with voodoo dolls!? What are the militaries making!? This’s so terrifying! And so, I was able to run into this F-101 while walking in the Mojave Desert. Yes, I know it’s got nothing to do with voodoo dolls and spirits.

モハーヴェ砂漠に捨てられている廃戦闘機のF-101 ヴードゥー。それは精霊を崇める民間信仰と同じ名…それは精霊の乗り物なのか！？はたまた一世風靡したヴードゥー人形が括り付けられまくった戦闘機なのか！？アメリカ軍は一体どんな秘密兵器を作ってしまったんだ！おそろしい！とモヤモヤしながら、モハーヴェ砂漠を歩いているうちに着きましたF-101。ヴードゥー人形まったく関係ない廃戦闘機でした。

Remains of a spaceship
It kind of looked like a spaceship that’s gone through an unfortunate event and made an emergency landing on some planet. My little Sci-fi loving heart can’t thank enough for this view. It’s missing its wheels and the aircraft just lies on its stomach. The equipment in the inside is visible through the stripped exterior. I sat down on the plane and enjoyed the view from the top for a little while.

どこかの惑星に着陸した宇宙船のようにも見えるボロボロのＦ101。目の前に広がるSci-Fi的光景。朽ちっぷりに感謝の気持ちが止まりません。車輪がないので、機体が砂漠にドンと置かれた状態。外装を剥がされたところから、内部の機器が丸見え。まるで機械の内臓といった感じ。尾翼を伝い登ってみると、ベコベコと鉄板の音がなります。一息ついて機体の上に座り、月を眺め、不思議な気分を満喫しました。
